MEDANZ Partner Profile - Gillian Green

Hello, I'm Gillian.

My bellydance journey began in 2002, and for over two decades, it has been a journey of constant learning and evolution. I started learning and performing Cabaret style under the wonderful Monique Feron, and since 2010, I've had the joy of dancing and performing with Tais and the Arabellas Bellydance troupe.

While my roots are in traditional styles, my passion led me to the captivating world of fusion bellydance. In 2015, drawn by her powerful and gooey movements, I began training with Rachel Brice in her "Datura Style". My connection to this style has taken me to Portland for regular training and in 2023, I was incredibly proud to become the first certified Datura Style teacher in New Zealand.

I am now thrilled to be sharing this unique dance style with you in Auckland. As part of the Arabellas teaching team in Takapuna, I offer classes in both general bellydance technique and Datura Style fusion. My current offerings are in short course blocks, as I'm continuing my own development with incredible opportunities like the Orchidacea Dance Intensive and training with Olga Meos, along with returning to Portland for the annual Datura Style Teachers conference.

For the remainder of this year, my classes will be offered in short course blocks to fit around all my travels, so that I can bring the latest techniques and inspiration back to my students.
