Festival Workshop
Tarab - Emotion & Musical Connection
with Elea Le Bout
About this workshop
This workshop focuses on Tarab, the emotional heart of Oriental dance. Tarab is the deep connection between the dancer and the music, when movement comes from feeling rather than steps. There is no choreography in this workshop. Instead, we will: - Explore musical listening and emotional connection - Use guided movement and improvisation exercises - Develop presence, stillness, and expressive confidence

Elea Le Bout
Éléa is a dance teacher and a professional dancer for Phoenix Bellydance in Auckland, New Zealand. Éléa is originally from France and has been dancing for most of her life, beginning with four years of ballet before discovering, and falling in love with, belly dance in 2010. She has trained in various studios and attended workshops with renowned instructors from around the world, including Jillina, Aziza of Cairo, Kami Liddle, Diva Darina, Marta Korzun, Sadie, Meher Malik, and others. Committed to growth, Elea continues to refine her technique and explore new styles whenever the opportunity arises. What Elea loves most about dancing is its incredible power to channel emotions through movement, and to share them with the audience. She strongly believes that a great dancer is feeling the music and translating it into movement, rather than having the best technique. Her teaching approach is warm, thorough, and always infused with a sense of fun. Elea takes great joy in supporting her students as they grow and build confidence in their dance journey.
